Walter MacDonald Searle met his wife to be, Beulah Cynthia at a dance in Haverhill, Suffolk, in England April 28, 1945.  He was a Corporal in the RCAF but wearing a Newfoundland flash on his uniform since that is where he was born.  He volunteered for service in the R.C.A.F and enlisted at Halifax April 16, 1942.  His ambition was to become a Pilot, but after taking the required test twice failed due to color blindness.  Instead he became ground crew, a Rader Mechanic, therefore playing a very important part in the War effort. We were married in Haverhill October 30, 1945.  He was stationed in various parts of England but reluctant to Canada after the war had ended.  His RCAF records do not show where he landed. It would have been sometime in November 1945.  He enrolled in the Radio, Physics, and Math course all Western University, London, Ontario, especially for War Veterans having been recommended for the course.  He graduated five years later with an Honours BSc., and Honors MSc. From there he came to Ottawa to work for Defense Research Board, also NRC in Tele communications etc., until his untimely death in July, 1977 after a lengthy illness. We had four wonderful children, a daughter and three sons who are very successful.
