War Bride

My mother, Dorothy Lacey Blake and I [Phyllis] arrived here at Pier 21 in June 1946 on the Queen Mary which sailed out of Southampton, England. After going through immigration we boarded a train for Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and there we lived with my father for the next six years.

Over the years Dorothy, better known as Dot, was able to visit her British family. She went on to have six more children, Debbie, Larry, Cathy, Gary, Peter and Pam. Mum loved Canada because this is where her children live but her heart was in England, the country of her birth.
