Giorgio e Teresa

Giorgio came to Canada in the middle of 1956. He was aboard the M.S. Saturnia along with other members of his community. He left his wife and four children back in Southern Italy (Reggio, Calabria), for a better life and future for his family. With hard work and determination he was joined by his wife and children six months later.

Teresa Raso landed at Pier 21 on January 17, 1957 aboard the Vulcania together with her four children, Annunziata age 13, Antonio age 11, Michelino age 8 and Giuseppi age 6. They lived with family members for a while until they bought their first home.

They were always grateful for the opportunity that Canada afforded them, becoming Canadian Citizens years later and very proud to call Canada their home. They built a wonderful life together for themselves and their children and their children’s future.
