Dad left for overseas from Halifax, January 1943, as a Squadron Leader. Began the Canadian Pay Office in London. Worked in Harrods with the United Kingdom Base Accounts Office. In the spring of 1947, Ottawa awarded Dad the MBE* Military. He was promoted to Wing Commander in 1944. He landed on the Niew Amsterdam in Halifax on Sept. 9, 1945.

*Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
