As a Lieutenant William G. Curry Communication officer on his first crossing of the Atlantic (on the HMCS Snowberry), not sure about his plan of action (as he was actually on route to the communications course in England). When he saw an unknown ship on the horizon, which turned out to the massive HMS Rodney, he flashed a challenge and the Rodney returned with the message: "Carry on Canada with your gallant little navy".

I have a christening pennant which was from the Hawkesbury (flower class). Lt. Cmndr. William G. Curry was the only CO of the ship during the war picked it up brand new in 1944, (that's why he has a christening pennant). The first ship that he served on was the HMCS Snowberry (possibly a British castle class) was on loan from the UK and was much older and had been in service as a British ship previous to its transfer to Canada (so he would not have the commissioning pennant for that ship).

We have a certificate commemorating 400 days at sea during the war. Not sure if this would be of further interest. Would love to provide his 4 ring black doeskin uniform that I still have in my possession, if you would like to create a special site. Also have a blood stained from a German on a U-boat that they captured off of Iceland (the story was more like: the Germans had surfaced with engine trouble and my father was drinking in the wardroom on shore when the word came in that they had a chance to take the Germans captive. They scrambled on some vessel and captured the Germans.
