William H. Holland

I am writing this story on behalf of my late husband, Dr. William H. Holland.

He was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands on January 4th, 1926 and was educated by the Jesuits in Nijmegen where he attended the Canisius College.

Following the end of WWII he graduated from the University of Utrecht, as a medical doctor.

After much deliberation, he made the decision to immigrate to Canada.

Boarding the SS Zuiderkruis on September 18, 1952, he landed in Halifax at Pier 21 on September 25, 1952.

He continued on to Kitchener, Ontario where he set up his medical practice. He served the Kitchener/Waterloo community for over fifty years as a skilled and dedicated physician, loved and respected by patients and colleagues alike. He truly made a difference in the lives of so very many people.

Dr. Holland died on December 8, 2008, leaving his wife and two sons to mourn his passing.

Dr. Holland never lost the memories and love of his homeland, but there was no more proud and grateful Canadian.
