Molly Allen Boyd

Hi Molly,

It’s me. The man who loves you.

I was so lucky to have you as a wife and to be with you for 25 years as your husband.

I told you that I loved you often but I could have told you more often.

I touched you often, but I could have touched you more.

I remember that first kiss in Corner Brooke. I can still taste it today so sweet so giving so wonderful.

I remember our first Christmas and you bringing on the plane that little tree from Nova Scotia in a Sobey’s bag.

I remember your red nose in Winnipeg at the 1991 Grey Cup. You would have given Rudolph a run for the money. It was only 20 below.

I remember Hungary and you’re refusing the deer meat. The Bambi syndrome.

I remember Liverpool and you’ll never walk alone and your excitement at the fans singing their hearts out.

I remember Vimy Ridge and touching your uncle’s grave and renewing your commitment to peace.

I remember all those summers in Cape Breton and Antigonish. Playing spoons breaking chairs to win.

I remember your helping my aunt in Italy to wash the dishes while the men ate and drank. Such compassion! You gained another aunt.

I remember you taking the hungry to the grocery store to feed them. Counselling the needy even though they were no longer supposed to be.

I remember you tipping anyone who gave us service. I always had to have change in my pocket for the tip.

I remember your noon hour demonstrations to help the members get their pay equity. Rain or shine. You kept the pressure on. Equality was always worth fighting for.

You always gave hope. You were always there with your smile. You always gave yourself. You were there to make the world better through your work, your kindness, your time and through your love. You taught me how to love beyond the physical. You taught me about sacrifice and giving. You taught me about family. Our daughters are better because of you. I am better because of you.

Not just a pretty face…. Molly Allen Boyd…. you are beautiful.

And now is the time to say goodbye but con te partiro, you will live with me in my mind and in my heart. Con te partiremo. With you we will leave because you have shaped us and gave me and everyone the most important thing….YOU.
