Bruno Talotta

Dad emigrated to Canada from the little town of Maierato in Calabria Italy.

• He left Italy on March 10th, 1966 from the Port of Messina, Sicily.
• He arrived in Toronto, Ontario on March 21st,1966, and therefore, I believe he landed in Halifax on March 19th.
• He travelled on the Queen Frederica ship.
• He was 42 years of age.

Dad left Italy at the young age of 42, to find a better life for him and his family, (my Mother, sister and me) that joined him in Toronto a few months later in July of 1966. So, he decided to leave his home town of Maierato, where he was born and lived a comfortable life in order to improve his financial status. He decided that Canada would be his new home and on March 10th, 1966, he embarked on board the Queen Federica ship, for his venture to the new land. He landed in Halifax on March 19th or so, and ultimately Toronto on March 21st, 1966, leaving his family behind, including his kids and spouse. He also left mild weather to end up in snow and freezing temperatures, and no language. At age 42 he started working at times on two jobs, became successful, and Toronto was his home for the rest of his life.
