• My parents, brother and I immigrated from West Berlin, Germany
• We departed from Bremerhaven, Germany
• A collision at sea forced us to change ships in Southhampton, UK
• We boarded the FSS New York (Greek Line).
• Landed in Halifax, NS on June 12, 1956
• Travelled by train to Winnipeg, MB and settled on Talbot Ave. in Elmwood
• We became Canadian Citizens in 1961
• Parents loved their life in their new country and never had any desire to return to their homeland
• They spent every weekend they could at their cottage in the Manitoba Interlake district
• Their two sons were privileged to attend the University of Manitoba earning engineering and accounting degrees
• Both parents are interred in Garry Memorial Park in Winnipeg, MB
• My brother, a CA, is retired and lives in Winnipeg after periods in Regina and Edmonton
• I'm retired in Invermere, BC after living in Edmonton for 35 years
