Kyle and Sylvia Mahler arrived at Pier 21 with their 2-year-old son Harry on October 3, 1948. They were from Austria but departed from Bremenhofen, Germany. They came on an American Troop Transport called the General M.B. Stuart. They were put up free of charge at the hotel for two or three days before catching a train to Montreal. From Montreal they went on to Toronto where they settled. The Mahlers had two daughters after their arrival in Toronto and live there still.

Mr. Mahler's name used to be spelled with a C but someone made a mistake at immigration. His wife was called Cesia (pronounced Sasha) but she changed it after immigrating. She might have been Polish because he told me that was the Polish pronunciation.
