My mother left Italy to marry the love of her life Romeo Macorig. Dad (Romeo) arrived in Canada/Halifax/Pier 21 on August 31, 1954 on the ship Conte Biancamano. Mom and Dad were engaged to be married and on October 21, 1958 Mom arrived in Canada on the ship Saturnia and on December 06, 1958 they were married.

The day Mom left Italy (Sanguarzo/Cividale/Udine) her father (Our grandfather) Rodolfo Zussino gave my mother a typed out blessing and farewell letter. My mother cherished this letter and referred to it from time to time over the years. This letter was written in Italian and was placed at the altar and read at her funeral service and buried with her. My grandfather was a deeply religious man and his letter was a farewell goodbye to his daughter and Wedding blessing to my father. This letter was a reminder of mom's up bringing/values and belief that even though they may part this earth in different places they will meet again.

This special letter had touched all that heard/read it that I thought it would be nice to have it displayed at Pier 21. This letter represents the heart wrenching loss from the departures of loved ones through immigration... etc.
