Maria Suzete

My mother, Maria Suzete deFreitas Nobrega, along with my brother Noel Hilario, arrived in Toronto in February of 1956. They hadn't seen my father, Mario Estevao Nobrega, for three years. The reunion was a happy one. They lived in the Kensington Market area for a few years, my brother Joel was born in November of that same year (1956), myself and a sister and a brother followed. Our heritage is very important to us. My father showed great strength and courage to voyage to Canada and begin a new life for himself and his family. I'm proud to be a part of that heritage!
