Margie Gouleff Vassos

I left Macedonia in Northern Greece in 1951 to immigrate to Canada to join my sister who was adopted by a Macedonian Canadian family. I left Greece on my own to start a new life in Toronto at the age of 16.

I travelled on the Argentina in second class, sharing a cabin with a lovely Macedonian family who took me under their wing, crossing the ocean in nine days and arriving in Halifax on November 27, 1951.

A two day train trip brought me to Union Station in Toronto where I was met by my uncle Louie who was my aunt's husband and my sister's adoptive family who I lived with until my marriage to George Vassos on June 1, 1952.
