It was the summer of 1951, when John 28 Ellen 26 Philip 2 and six months and Ann 6 months landed at Pier 21 on board the Georgic II.

We sailed from Southhampton, England. After a short stay in Halifax, we boarded a train to Toronto in search of a bright future.

The Irish immigrant story of the McDermott's is long and filled with joy, work and thanks to a welcoming country that made it possible.
