Joe and Annie Punko

Joe came to Canada through Pier 21 to find work and eventually he hoped to go back to Bereza, Belerus where he came from. Two weeks before he came to Canada he got married to Annie. When he came to Canada there were no jobs and only seasonal work on farms and the CPR. It took him 8 years to save enough money to bring his wife to Canada. They lived at Bassano AB.
