Ingrid M. Haase

I arrived in Canada from Germany on September 19, 1953 on the ship Italia. I was 13 years old and came over by myself because my parents Siegfried F Haase and Hedwig M Haase and my little sister Barbara M Haase were already living in Herring Cove since October 1952. I had stayed in school in Germany. When the ship docked at Pier 21 my parents and my sister were there to greet me. The parish priest Father Melanson had driven them into Halifax. As soon as Barbara saw me she greeted with "Ingrid, hast Du mir was mitgebracht?"
