Herman Newman

Pier 21 is a wonderful contribution not only to Halifax but to all of Canada. This is something that was so dear to Herman's heart. Every year on Remembrance Day he would make a pilgrimage to the Pier. He would gaze over the waters that had brought him and say a prayer of Thanksgiving and gratitude for his life in freedom and for the privilege of being a Canadian. Herman was intensely proud of being a Canadian.
