Harry Dye
My Father Harry Dye Sr. emigrated to Canada from Dundee, Scotland on the ship Newfoundland that arrived in Halifax on August 8th, 1927.
My mother, Jesmina Dye (nee Manson), with myself, Harry Dye Jr., and sisters Edith and Mina followed later aboard the R.M.S. Albertic in Halifax on May 5th, 1929. They went on to settle in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
During World War Two, I served in the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the corvette H.M.C.S. Trentonian that was torpedoed and sunk on February 22, 1945. I was transported back to Canada on the troop carrier Aquitania and re-entered Canada through Pier 21 in early March 1945. I was discharged from the military in June 1946. I still reside in Summerside, Prince Edward Island with my wife, Shirley (nee Callbeck). We have two grown children, a daughter Catherine, who is married to Brian Johnston, and a son Andrew, who is married to Deborah Crozier.
