Chris, Nina and Grace Kowalski

Krzysztof (1945), Janina (1946) and Grazyna (1948) Kowalski came to Canada from Poland via Germany with their parents Jan Ryszard Kowalski and Gabriela Olsezewska-Kowalska.

After a nine day journey in cold, stormy weather and rough seas, they arrived at Pier 21 on December 22, 1949 on the American army ship, the SS General Ballou. The family then boarded the train, arriving in Montreal on December 24th. They continued onto Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where they lived before settling in Montreal in 1950.

They followed their maternal grandmother, Jozefa Katonski-Olszewska, aunt and uncle Halinka Olszewska-Kubis and Czeslaw Kubis who arrived in the fall of 1948.

The family was completed by three boys who were born in Montreal - Tomasz (1951), Andrzej (1953) and John Richard (1955).

Chris' children are Christian (1972) and Heidi (1976) Kowalski. Nina's son is Mathieu (1974) Guimont. Grace's children are Jennifer (1977), Lianne (1980) and Jeffrey (1984) Cartwright.
