I immigrated to Canada on a government work program setup to aid Canadian farmers after the war. After landing in Halifax we were transferred into an immigration centre in Montreal, and later sent to Saskatchewan to work in a farm in Wynyard as a farm laborer. This was a mandatory program lasting one year. After this work posting I moved to Regina, to work as a mechanic and later moved to Montreal and finally Toronto where I worked in construction and maintenance until retirement.
