Achille Ginevra Rinaldo Aldo Carinci

Country of Origin: Italy
Ship Name: Castel Felice
Date of Arrival: May 12, 1956

My father has forever engrained these dates in his mind and every year, early May he gets nostalgic and retells his story of his journey across the Atlantic Ocean.

May 3rd, 1956, 12 am, Ginevra, Rinaldo and Aldo leave their hometown of Veroli, Lazio to board the Castel Felice headed for a promise land. After two years of working abroad to secure a better future for his family, Achille Carinci would finally be reunited with his wife and two sons. May 12, 1956 the Castel Felice arrives in Canada. It will take two days on a train before my father finds his roots in Toronto, Ontario. From this day forward the dream of a better life is realized in the children and grandchildren of the Carinci family who crossed through Pier 21.

You came here to work and after fifty years of doing so you have proven your devotion to this country and taught us a valuable lesson in the course. Thank you for the ambition, the sacrifices and the accomplishments we are so proud of.
