Learn about the significance of the za'atar spice blend to the people of Palestine in this interactive workshop with artist and filmmaker Rana Nazzal Hamadeh, whose work is also being exhibited at the Museum.

Take the opportunity to make meaningful connections with other attendees as you share the unique flavours of za'atar and tea and discuss the ways in which food can provide comfort, healing, and joy even in the most difficult circumstances.

About the Artist:
Rana Hazzal Hamadeh is a Palestinian artist and filmmaker living between Ramallah and Ottawa.

Her photography, film, and installation works explore issues related to time, space, land, and movement, offering interventions rooted in a decolonial framework. Her practice is deeply informed by the knowledge emerging from the grassroots movements for justice around her, both in Palestine and across Turtle Island.

She holds an MFA in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University and a BA in Human Rights and Law from Carleton University. She is currently conducting research on Palestinian food practices during the Intifadas and working remotely with a political prisoners organization in Palestine.
