Join us for one of Fenton the Bear’s favourite days of the year! Enjoy family-friendly, interactive activities, live performances and community programming that highlight stories, cultures and experiences from across the country.
Wondering what to expect? Here’s some things to make your decision easier (or harder!):
- Free admission for all visitors throughout the day
- 9:30 am – 5:30 pm: Take part in our scavenger hunt, crafts, explore our exhibitions, a photobooth, a make-and-take from Holdfast Bricks (while supplies last), a giant building brick mosaic, and more!
- 9:30 am – 2:30 pm: Outdoor chalk art with Jason Skinner
- 10:00 am: Citizenship Ceremony (open to the public)
- 10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Freddy Mujica plays his special brand of Latin Music at the Museum’s entrance
- 11:30 am: New Canadian Pep Rally (open to the public)
- 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: Choral performances from the Halifax Newcomer Choir, Harana Singers, Creative Ukrainians, and more
- 1:00 pm: A special screening of a live World Cup game and related activities
- 1:30 pm: Singalong with The Big Sing
Sensory-Friendly Hour
Join us from 8:30 am – 9:30 am for a sensory-friendly Canada Day experience intended for visitors who prefer a quieter, lower-stimulation environment.
- Smaller crowds
- Reduced sensory input
- Opportunities to enjoy select activities, exhibition spaces, and the Great Cookie Scavenger Hunt
- A make-and-take activity from Holdfast Bricks (while supplies last) and a giant building brick mosaic
Access to the Quiet Room will remain available throughout the day.
