Cornelia van Herk

Cornelia van Herk arrived in Canada from the Netherlands on the SS Waterman ship in 1953 along with the rest of the van Herk family - Abraham and Sietje, Wim, Gerard, Paul, Bram, Nienke. She met her husband, Abraham den Ouden, in Nova Scotia and they built a life together in western Canada. In the photo, Cornelia is kneeling in the front row along with her siblings. Photo taken at the Holland America pier in Rotterdam, just prior to departing in 1953.
