An event 25 years in the making… this year’s Fascinating Canadian is Sherry Porter, CM.

For decades, often quietly, Sherry has been a pillar of our community, serving on boards and supporting a huge range of organizations including Dalhousie University, Symphony Nova Scotia, the QEII Health Sciences Centre, and us. Sherry supported the Museum long before we reopened 25 years ago and she continues to be deeply involved with the work of the Museum.  She chaired this event sixteen times!

Sherry will take us on a retrospective journey and also be joined by Fascinating Canadian speakers from the past. Some will have the opportunity to share their reflections and perspectives about the Museum, the immigrant experience, and what the future may have in store.

Taking place annually in Toronto and in Halifax, Fascinating Canadian events are the Museum’s signature fundraisers. Leaders and experts speak about their relationship to immigration and the important contribution it makes to our economy, culture, and way of life. Funds raised support exhibitions, educational programs, family history research, and our vast story collection.
