Citizenship Program

An interpreter watches as two young boys try to complete the Canadian Citizenship test.

Will You Pass the Test?

Ideal For: Ages 11+
Maximum number of participants: 30

One of the most significant points in the immigration process is the recreation, reframing or redefinition of cultural identity. Often this is symbolically represented by obtaining citizenship. The citizenship process imparts particular rights and responsibilities. It also represents ‘belonging’ in a particular group with associated values, symbols and identities.

Gain insight into what it means to be Canadian. Discuss rights and responsibilities, Canadian identity, controversies of Canadian identity and symbols of Canada with a Canadian Citizenship Test participant or instructor. Explore different multicultural models and which you think Canada represents. Take an oath of citizenship and attempt sample questions from the citizenship test. Using interactive technology, take on your competitors in a citizenship team challenge round.
