Reproductions and Use
Contact the Collections team at collections@pier21.ca for requests to use the collection. Provide as much information as possible about your request and how you will use the items.
Licenses will be issued for requests as long as:
- The item is unrestricted
- The use aligns with the Museums ethical obligations and policies,
- There is not an unreasonable risk to the donor or subject of the item
- Reasonable notice is given to Collections staff in order to process the request
Multimedia editing services are not available.
Fees for Reproduction and Use
Requests may take up to 1 month (20 business days) to complete. Urgent requests may be accommodated on a “rush service” basis, depending on the size of the order. Double fees will apply for rush service (10 business days or less).
No commercial fees will be charged for any content within the public domain. Reference copy and administrative fees will still apply.
All orders are subject to applicable taxes. Some restrictions may apply.
Loans
The Museum may loan artifacts from its collection to other institutions if loan requirements can be met.
Send loan requests to the Manager of Collections and Digital Preservation at collections@pier21.ca. Include the following information:
- Facility Report
- Contact details of the lender
- List of object(s) requested
- Exhibition dates
- Exhibition title
- Exhibition description
- Proposed loan dates
Inquiries must be made at least 6 months prior to the required shipping date. All shipping costs will be the responsibility of the borrowing institution.
