Award-winning jazz singer Jeri Brown chronicles the origin, development and performance practices of the traditional African-American spiritual, and its influence on Gospel, R&B, Blues and Soul. This musical lecture features a multimedia presentation of compelling visuals and sound clips punctuated by live musical selections of each genre. A question and answer period will conclude the program followed by closing performance of Gospel song Down by the Riverside.
