Margaret C. Haggerty

Scottish War Bride
September 11, 1946

I married my husband Ernest E. Haggerty (Died 1983) in March 1946. I spent two days in Liverpool England, and arrived in September of 1946 in Halifax. I was met by the Salvation Army Ladies.

During the train trip, I thought we would never arrive in Winnipeg. When we did, I did not recognize husband in civilian clothes and his "Big Hat".

I have belonged to both the Saskatchewan War Brides Association and the Manitoba War Brides Association and am serving as the President of the MWBA. I am proud to be a Canadian yet I still remember my roots.
