Mystery Skype with the Museum

Ideal for: Ages 8 - 14

Reflection of a young boy looking into a display case that contains an antique trunk.

As one of Canada’s six national museums, housed in an original immigration shed where almost one million immigrants took their first steps in Canada from 1928-1971, there are many ways our Museum is unique! Students will use these clues and more to guess where they are, and then take a virtual tour.

Skype in to a Heritage Interpreter in the “Assembly Hall,” former site of medical and civil examinations for new arrivals. Once the students guess the name, subject or location of the Museum, the Heritage Interpreter will explain the significance of the historic site, and lead an interactive discussion about the Canadian immigration experience.
