Education Group Visits
Immersive Learning at a National Historic Site
We welcome Education Groups including school groups, cadets, Guides and Scouts, EFF/FLL students, university groups and other organizations dedicated to education.
Each Education Group Visit includes a choice of one Education Program. These fully facilitated programs allow students to explore topics related to immigration, identity, history, citizenship and diversity.
How to Book
- Read up on our Education Programs and make a selection for your group. Questions? Contact us by email at learn@pier21.ca or (902) 425-7770 ext. 255.
- When you’re ready, book your visit online.
- One week's notice is requested for Education Group Visits. For the months of May, June and November, we recommend booking early as spaces fill up quickly.
- Group Visits can only be booked for times when the Museum is open.
Chaperones
The standard ratio of learners per Heritage Interpreter is 25. Chaperone ratios are at the discretion of the school or organization, however, it is the chaperones’ responsibility to ensure that learners are supervised at all times during their visit. Admission for all chaperones is free of charge.
Special Needs
If there is a learner in your group who requires accommodation, please let us know at the time of booking and we will make every effort to meet their needs. The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is fully wheelchair accessible.
Bursaries Available
The Ruth Goldbloom Education Bursary can defray the costs of transportation and/or accommodation for your group. Apply Now.
What is an Education Group?
Education groups include school groups, cadets, Guides and Scouts, ELL/FLL students, university groups, and other organizations dedicated to education and visiting with an educational purpose. Groups must be 10 students or larger not including chaperones to qualify for the group rate.
When can I book an Education Group Visit?
Group visits can be booked for any time in which the museum is open. See Museum Hours.
How many people can you accommodate at once?
The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 can accommodate a maximum of 200 participants and chaperones at one time. This is not ideal but is possible. Larger groups may need to be rotated between activities in order to participate in the desired programming. See limits for each program under Program Information.
