This Canada Day, the Honourable Mayann Francis, author of Mayann’s Train Ride and the memoir An Honorable Life, brings us a personal tale.

One Summer in Whitney Pier is a love letter to the diverse Cape Breton community she calls home, and a celebration of breaking bread with your neighbours.

Francis herself blazed a trail from her roots in the working-class community of Whitney Pier, Cape Breton to become the 31st Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, the first African-Nova Scotian to hold the position.

This event will consist of a reading, accompanied by illustrations from Her Honour’s book. No pre-registration required.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
